         The Phillips Electric Company, Inc. was founded in 1946 as an electrical contracting and engineering  company. As the business expanded into repair services, Redmond Electric was acquired in 1949 and then combined with the Waltz Electric Company in 1953, to form the Redmond Waltz Electric Company. In 1971, Redmond Waltz became a Division of Phillips Electric, an Ohio Corporation. Contracting and engineering services are performed under the name of Phillips Electric while electric apparatus services and sales are performed under the Redmond Waltz banner. In 2005, Phillips Electric Contracting was merged with Ullman Electric to form a joint venture managed by Ullman.

         The original founders of the company were Morris and Louis Wagner. In 1980, Louis left the company and Morris became sole owner. Dr. Lorry Wagner joined the company in 1981 and became owner in 1985. In 1988, Elliott A. Gross became a partner until 2005 when he retired. Susan Wagner became CEO in 2006 and majority owner in 2007.
